No one has done more to stop term limits in Arizona than Sen. John McCain.

Ann Kirkpatrick is fighting to change that in her run against him.

When term limits for Congress appeared in the 1990s “Contract with America,” many pundits erred by calling it a Republican idea. Term limits have always been the most bipartisan idea in America, backed by supermajorities of Democrats, Republicans and independents.

There isn’t a single demographic – whether one looks at age, gender, income, race, religion, education level – that doesn’t favor term limits. Only powerful politicians oppose the idea.
